Preparation of Self-Assessment Report
In order to apply for accreditation, the higher education institution or college shall submit to AIKA an application, which has been prepared in compliance with the Guidelines for the Preparation of a Self-Assessment Report of Higher Education Institutions_Colleges, as designed by AIKA.
The following shall be added to the application:
- the self-assessment report of the higher education institution or college;
- the sample of a study agreement;
- a document specifying the status of the students’ self-governance and funding procedure; and
- additional information required for the assessment of the higher education institution or college, in accordance with the criteria and requirements for the assessment.
The higher education institution or college shall submit the application electronically and sign it with a secure electronic signature, in compliance with the provisions of the Electronic Documents Law. The application and the documents attached thereto shall be submitted in the official language and a translation into English thereof. In the event of any disputes, the documents prepared in the official language shall prevail.
The AIKA shall review the application and the documents attached thereto and, if necessary, request the missing information in writing. The higher education institution or college shall submit the requested information to AIKA within 30 days after having received the respective request.
The higher education institution or college shall prepare the self-assessment report in compliance with the internal procedures and it shall be responsible for a proper self-assessment and the preparation of the self-assessment report in a timely manner. In the course of the self-assessment process, AIKA may provide consultations on the guidelines for the preparation of a self-assessment report of a higher education institution or college and the assessment process.
The content and structure of the self-assessment report shall comply with the guidelines for the preparation of a self-assessment report of a higher education institution or college. The table of contents shall be included in the set of documents to be submitted.
The requirements subject to assessment within the accreditation process shall be as follows:
- the compliance of the qualification of the academic staff members, visiting professors, visiting associate professors, visiting docents, visiting lecturers, and visiting assistants with the provisions specified in the Law on Institutions of Higher Education;
- the compliance of the academic staff development policy and incentive system developed by the higher education institution or college with the aims and objectives set by the higher education institution or college;
- the compliance of the study provision, informative provision (including libraries), material and technical provision, and financial provision with the requirements for the implementation of a study programme;
- the implementation of the internal quality assurance system of the higher education institution or college in compliance with Section 5, Paragraph 2, Clause 1 of the Law on Institutions of Higher Education, ensuring constant improvement, development, and efficient performance of the higher education institution or college;
- to what extent the provisions regarding autonomy, funding, and rights of the students’ self-governance are complied with;
- the data accumulated in the education quality monitoring system of the higher education institution or college as evidence for indication of the improvement and development of the performance of the higher education institution or college;
- the compliance of the activities of the higher education institution or college with the requirements prescribed in regulatory enactments on higher education; and
- the elimination of the violations of the provisions prescribed in the regulatory enactments, as identified by the competent authorities, regarding the performance of the higher education institution or college in the previous year prior to taking the decision in line with the deadline set by the mentioned authorities.
In order to evaluate these requirements, the criteria for the evaluation of the requirements towards the higher education institution or college have been developed.
