Season’s greetings and thank you from AIKA

As the year 2023 comes to an end, on behalf of the Quality Agency for Higher Education, I wish to thank all our partners for the fruitful collaboration throughout the year.

The Quality Agency for Higher Education has both continued its regular tasks and also initiated new developments for the future, following its vision of continuous development of higher education quality in Latvia and international recognition.

In year 2023:

188 decisions on accreditation of study fields, licensing of study programmes, inclusion of study programmes on the accreditation form of a study field, feasibility on changes in study programmes were taken;

55 study fields were accredited, covering 233 study programmes in total;

More than 90 site visits were organised;

More than 300 external experts were involved, including international experts and experts delegated by the Latvian Employers’ Confederation and Student Union of Latvia;

The proceedings on the accreditation of study field ended in favour of the Agency and the Appeals Commission.

I would like to express special gratitude to all my colleagues at the Agency for their strong commitment and dedication in achieving this all.

The quality of higher education is not a static concept – it is a process created by each of us every day, with our experience, attitude and participation! May the challenges that we have faced together build resilience and result in new ideas and energy to implement them!
